The party’s rest is disturbed during the night. Janna Softwood encounters an intimidating artefact in the woods – an animated set of armour with a baleful red light emanating from its helmet. The armour appears intelligent, albeit silent and menacing. It seems attracted by the woodland gnome, however much she shies away from it, and stands alert on guard, with its sword planted, near Janna.
Malcor tentatively identifies it as a Helmed Horror – a common enough golem of metal employed by lesser wizards who lack the ability to work with brain, flesh and sinew.
Unable to get much information from their new mute companion, the party resolves to ignore it, hoping that it will go away – or not. It starts to follow them – at a distance – seeming to need neither rest, food, water or conversation.
