On their way back to Red Larch after scouting for bandit camps for the Constable Harburk, the Merchant Adventurers were accosted by a group of hawk men armed with javelins. Uncharacteristically, the party decided to wait and see what they wanted. Diplomacy was made difficult by a lack of common language, but perhaps more successful. The group resorted to scratching crude icons in the dirt.
The hawk men seemed exercised about a local tower in the Sumber Hills North East of Red Larch. It was unclear what the hawk men wanted the party to do, but it seemed to be either a warning to avoid the tower, an instruction to destroy the tower, or, indeed, that the hawk men were frustrated by the party thinking they were talking about the tower when they were not.
The encounter seemed to conclude amicably enough with the creatures taking off and heading east into the hills themselves.
Some hours later, the party was swinging South and then West to explore the lands to the South East of Red Larch when they disturbed a pair of Ankeg. These ferocious insectoids burst up through the ground and menaced the party. The party were fortunate to avoid their acidic spit and managed to take one down before the other fled. However, the presence of these hated predators so close to Red Larch and the farms and homesteads dotted around the landscape was greatly concerning.
The Merchant Adventurers decided to return to Red Larch to report their success, rest and re-group.
